Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government plans to offer retail sharia bonds (sukuk) to the public early next month, an official said.

"(The bonds) will likely be offered in early February or the first week of February and issued in the third week of the same month," Director General of Debt Management at the Finance Ministry Rahmat Waluyanto said here on Wednesday.

The government has named 20 agents to sell the retail sharia bonds. They include PT Bank Mandiri Tbk, PT Andalan Artha Advisindo Sekuritas, PT Mega Capital Indonesia, PT Bahan Securities, PT Bank Internasional Indonesia Tbk, PT Bank Syariah Mandiri, PT Danareksa Sekuritas, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk, and PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk.

The others are PT Trimegah Securities Tbk, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, PT Sucorinvest Central Gani, PT Reliance Securities Tbk, PT Bank Permata Tbk, PT Bank OCBC NISP Tbk, PT Ciptadana Securities and PT Kresna Graha Sekurindo Tbk.

"We will sign contracts with the 20 sales agents on Friday," he said.
