Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA News) - The waters in Lampung are potential to be developed into an international tourism object which is recognized by divers, a Biology lecture of Lampung University said here Thursday.

"There are some beautiful spots in Lampung Sea with unique surrounds," Endang Linirin, the lecturer, said here Thursday.

Endang said the spots were located on Si Uncal Island and Jebi Island, in the Lampung Bay, while the other areas are located in Kalianda, especially in Merak Belatung and Kiluan Bay, she added.

"In Si Uncal Island, you can find wide soft coral reefs, and one of my students had even touched them when diving there. It means the diameter of the coral reefs is large enough and interesting to be observed," the lecture of Mathematics and Science Faculty said here.

Furthermore in Kiluan Bay, she added, there were also underwater caves which are good to be studied by those interested in diving.

"There are some caves under the sea there and three of them have already been observed," the woman who joined Lampung Tourism Committee said.

However, she said, sharks were still in the caves, so that divers should be careful in exploring the caves.

Besides, undersea potentials in Merak Belatung, Kalianda were beautiful coral reefs which could be found mostly in front of Kalianda Resort.

"Every place in Lampung waters has special characteristics. If promoted, they will be an attraction to the divers," she said.

Ending added there were other spots where fishes are also found.

"Si Uncal is a place where fish are grouped. Further, there are also other locations where Baracuda exists. For fishermen it is nice, but we often found people who shot and killed the fish, so destroying the ecosystem," she said.
