"It should be understood that if Gayus handled 149 tax-payer firms it does not automatically mean that all have committed tax violations. We have to understand this because we should not generalize it,"
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo hoped Gayus Tambunan`s corrupted fund sources would be uncovered soon after the handing over to police of dossiers of tax-payer firms used to be handled by fraud suspect tax official Gayus.

"We have collected basic documents (dossiers) of 151 tax-payer companies to be handed over to the Police chief. I hope this case would be uncovered soon. After all the president had issued an instruction that the case should be reviewed once in two weeks," the minister said here on Monday.

He said it could not be ascertained that all of the 151 tax-payer companies had committed tax violations in connection with Gayus Tambunan`s case. The investigation by police is expected to shed light on the problem.

"It should be understood that if Gayus handled 149 tax-payer firms it does not automatically mean that all have committed tax violations. We have to understand this because we should not generalize it," the minister said.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono told a press conference after a limited cabinet meeting that violations with regard to Gayus`s case had taken place in the taxation, court and immigration areas.

He said that the law would be enforced and sanctions would be taken against those guilty. The president said the other step to be taken was to restructure the organizations, positions and officers of the institutions where violations had been committed.
