"I have received yesterday the proposal for the establishment of the inquiry committee which was signed by about 30 legislators from nine House factions. The House leadership would not stop it," Priyo said when chairing a House plenary session here on Tuesday.
He said that the leadership of the House would hand over the matter to the plenary for acceptance or refusal. "If the proposal is accepted it will than be handed over to the House`s Assembly Board (Bamus)," he said.
"Yesterday, the proposal happened to be discussed with several House leaders and some agreed to discuss it at a leadership meeting so that it could not yet be deliberated at the plenary today," he said.
Priyo said that the House would discuss the proposal at its plenary on Wednesday. "It is impossible for the leadership to drop the proposal but to deliberate it in the next plenary," he said.
Legislator Nudirman Munir of the Golakr Party faction and Arya Bima of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle faction, have questioned the proposal to the leadership why it did not directly take the proposal to the plenary.
"We submitted yesterday the proposal which was signed by about 30 legislators. It is not included in the plenary agenda today," Nudirman said during the session.
He said that the proposal should directly be discussed in accordance with the House`s internal rules. "It should have been discussed at the plenary based on the mechanism and the House internal rules," he said.
Arya Bima meanwhile said that his side appreciated the proposal even though he himself did not take part in the signing of the document.
"We appreciate it, though I did not put my signature," he said.
He said that the proposal had been submitted in reaction to the government and law enforcers efforts which were not yet able to settle the tax mafia case which had been revealed.(*)
