"Security will be tight in and outside the court room," Jakarta police chief Inspector General Sutarman said here on Wednesday.
He said the police would also screen goods brought in by visitors at the session. He said this measure would be taken to prevent those bringing sharp weapons or pistols.
He said some personnel would be stationed at certain locations considered vulnarable in case dissatisfied Baasyir supporters become wild.
South Jakarta police chief Senior Commissioner Gatot Eddy Pramono meanwhile said he had asked the South Jakarta district court to provide a large monitor in the court`s yard to enable people outside the court room to follow the trial proceedings.
Gatot said the facility was aimed at making supporters of Baasyir easily watch the process of the session so that "they need not enter the courtroom."
He said he had also asked the court officials to empty the parking lot. He said he heard information that supporters of Baasyir from Bogor, West Java, and Solo, Central Java, would attend the trial.
The South Jakarta district would on Thursday hear the charges against Baasyir, namely channeling funds for terrorist activity in Indonesia.
Indonesia was rocked by two violent incidents relating to religious issues this week. The attack on Ahmadiyah Islamic sect in Cikeusik, Pandeglang, Banten, on Sunday left three people dead while two churches had been burned and another one vandalized during rioting in Temanggung, Central Java, on Tuesday.
