Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - The Balinese government authorities will close five ports during the last day of the calendar (Nyepi) on March 5, 2011.

"The Balinese governor has given instruction to the management of the Balinese airport, and four harbors, river and lake ports, on the occasion," Head of the Bali Transportation and Communications Agency I Made Santha said here Thursday.

The four harbors are Gilimanuk, a west seaport serving Bali-Java; Padangbai, an east seaport serving Bali-West Nusa Tenggara; Benoa, and Celukan Bawang, in Buleleng, Northern Bali.

According to Made Santha 30 ships are serving Bali-Java route in Gilimanuk that will stop operation during Nyepi from 6 a.m.on March 5 to 6 a.m. on March 6.

In addition, 18 ships serving in Padangbai harbor serving the Lombok-Bali route would stop operating on the occasion, Made Santha said.

"Transportation in Bali would be totally out of service as around 2.36 million vehicles in Bali would stop operating," he said.

Therefore Made Santha asked foreign or domestic tourists on a vacation in Bali not to come to Bali on that day as there will be no transportation to the island paradise on that day.
