According to the minister, the dialogue would be participated in by defense ministers and 1,300 delegates from 40 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and Africa. He said the dialogue was designed to gather defense-related leaders, academics and policy makers around the world to discuss ways to maintain stability and security in the region.
Meanwhile, the rector of the Indonesian Defense University. Syarifuddin Tippe, said the March dialogue would promote cooperation among governments around the Asia Pacific region in facing security threats which could happen in the region or in the global world.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to open the meeting with Brunei Darussalam`s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Pangeran Mohammed Bolkiah as the speaker.
Among other leaders who will attend the meeting are Timor-Leste`s Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao, Brazil`s Minister of Defense Nelson Jobim, Malaysia`s Defense Minister Dato` Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and United Kingdom`s Minister for International Security Strategy Gerald Howarth MP.
