Ambon, Maluku (ANTARA News) - Maluku`s provincial administration and the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) will cooperate in the fields of education, people`s empowerment, and research development.

"We have had a meeting with the IPB vice rector and 20 other officials to explore the cooperation," Maluku provincial legislative assembly (DPRD)`s Commission-A spokesman Richard Rahakbauw said here on Friday.

Richard said a natural laboratory built by IPB for the research could also be developed in Maluku.

In addition, the DPRD Commission-A also had made a follow-up discussion with Maluku provincial administration officials, and the rectors of Pattimura University (Unpatti) and Darusalam University (Unidar) in Ambon about the cooperation.

According to Richard, Unpatti and Unidar positively responded the cooperation effort in the education field.

"Through the cooperation, the lecturers from Unpatti and Unidar, especially of the faculty of agriculture, will have opportunity to continue their post graduate study at IPB," he said.

While the cooperation in people`s empowerment and research, it is expected that in the future there will be research program and superior commodity development.

"The DPRD will later discuss the agreement of the cooperation in its plenary meeting to arrange the draft of the cooperation agreement and its signing," Richard said.
