"The imported rice has now arrived in Medan and we it will receive here later this week," Andi Patris, head of Riau State Logistic Agency (Bulog), said here Tuesday (Feb 22).
He said the rice would meet the demand of food supply in Riau province. Earlier, the Agency had imported 11.000 tons of rice from Vietnam. However, the Thailand imported rice had premium quality and was used for commercial in the district.
"So, it`s not only used to meet the stock demand in the storehouse, but also to balance its price," he said.
Nowadays, there are 15.836 tons of rice in the Bulog storehouse and it replenishes the food needs of Riau for three to four months ahead.
