"To attract well-qualified and talented students, SAA-GE will be offering one full scholarship covering tuition fees and course materials for this programme, which will be starting in July 2011," Head Academic Programmes of SAA-GE Dr. Michael Cope said here at a media briefing Wednesday.
Applications for the scholarship will be accepted until March 25 2011.
The scholarship is open for any 3rd grade High School student at maximum age of 18 years old, who has strong Mathematics skills and n passed an evaluation by SAA-GE.
The scholarship is offered for the first year in Diploma in Economics programme. However, the scholarship students could continue their study in the second and third year of the program without paying tuition fees if they have good academic performance, Cope said.
On the occasion, SAA-GE also introduced its new Diploma in Economics Programs from the University of London.
"We are very happy to introduce our new international programme, Diploma in Economics from the University of London," Cope said.
"Accountants play a key role in commerce, industry and organization large and small in any part of the world, including Indonesia. They are the mainstays of the corporate world, not just within accountancy but across all aspects of business, hence obtaining a qualification in accountancy opens up many career opportunities," Cope said.
SAA-GE is a training arm of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS), the national accountancy body that develops, supports and enhances the integrity, status and interests of the profession.
As the leading specialist in accountancy qualification in Singapore, SAA-GE had already introduced the University of London International degrees in Accounting and Finance, Banking and Finance, Business and Economics and Management, he said, adding that the institution had also expanded its programme with Accounting of Law, the Bachelor of Laws, and the Diploma in the Common Law, he said.
Since 1995, SAA-GE has consistently produced a list of prize winners for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)/ICPAS Joint Professional Examination programmes and Certified Accounting Tecnician (CAT) programmes in the Singapore and International categories.
For over 26 years, SAA-GE has been the choice of training institutions by ambitious, energetic individuals and corporations, locally and in the region, Cope said.
The career routes that can be pursued after studying with SAA-GE range from banking, merchant banking, management consulting, stock-broking, top positions within multinational comapnies and government offices and becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Meanwhile, Kelvin Goh, a Senior Country Manager of Marketing Departement of SAA-GE said, there were more than 5,000 part-time and full time students studying at SAA-GE, including students from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Vietnam and other countries in Asia-Pacific region.
SAA-GE has two modern campuses. The main campus is at CPA house, and the city campus is at Raffless Quay, at the heart of Singapore`s Central Business District.
