Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Democrat Party will ask for an explanation from partners in the coalition regarding their stand in the vote over right to inquiry on Tuesday, Andi Mallarangeng said.

The secretary of the ruling party`s board of patrons said here on Wednesday that their stand which was against their coalition partners was certainly unacceptable in view of coalition.

The House of Representatives (DPR) on Tuesday decided to drop the proposal to implement the right to inquiry to investigate alleged tax mafia after 266 voted against and 264 for it.

Among those voting in favor of the proposal were members of Golkar and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) which are members of the coalition supporting the government.

"If they are always against their partners every time a strategic issue arises it would raise a big question with regard to their participation in the coalition. What are they there for?. It would be funny if they are always in opposition," he said.

Andi said their stand would be noted in connection with the Democrat Party`s plan to review the coalition membership.

"This will become a special note and there must be a kind of review with regard to their stand in the coalition. All parties in the coalition need to explain why it has been like that so far," he said.

Andi said the cabinet ministers from coalition member parties actually must also explain to their parties regarding the government`s stance and policies taken so far.

Andi who is also sports and youth affairs minister declined to respond to a question about the possibility for Gerindra Party to join the coalition.

He however expressed his appreciation to the party that had taken a same stand with Democrat Party during the vote.

"We appreciate parties within or outside the coalition that are in line with us. That proves that the issue is above a coalition issue," he said.

The deputy chairman of the Democrat Party`s board of patrons, Marzuki Alie, also said that the coalition`s joint secretariat would evaluate the membership of the parties that had coalesced with the party to see if they have really synergized to support the government.

"The coalition is like a family with all its dynamics," he said at the parliament building here on Wednesday in response to a newsman question regarding the stand of Golkar Party and PKS.

The post of general chairman of the secretariat is held by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who is also chief patron of the Democrat Party.

Marzuki said "the Democrat Party that supports the President has an obligation to give inputs regarding the stand taken by coalition party members such as Golkar and PKS which is against the coalition`s on the issue."

Marzuki said that he as a house speaker and Anas Urbaningrum as the chief of the Democrat Party had so far monitored their coalition members.

"I do it internally through the House of Representatives and Anas externally," he said.
