Hamas` parliamentary bloc said that the detainees in Egypt have carried on hunger strike and suffered difficult conditions.
Gaza (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - Islamic Hamas movement on Tuesday called upon Egypt to release Palestinians who have been held prisoners in Egypt.

In a statement, Hamas` parliamentary bloc said that the detainees in Egypt have carried on hunger strike and suffered difficult conditions.

Ahmed Bahar, deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, said keeping the Palestinian prisoners "dedicates a humanitarian and moral crisis and an attempt by some members of the former regime to harm the Palestinian-Egyptian relations."

Bahar called on the head of Egypt`s Supreme Council of the Armed Forces Hussein Tantawi to intervene and order the release of the prisoners.

During the turmoil in Egypt last month, about 10 Palestinians escaped from their jails and managed to return to Gaza through underground smuggling tunnels along Gaza-Egypt border.

Around 30 Palestinians are still held in Egypt, according to Hamas estimates.(*)
