On that day Hindus conducted fasting including not making a fire or lighting lamps and therefore the island was completely dark that day.
The only activity seen that night was traditional security guards conducting patrols to assure security.
All hotels in tourist resorts also turned off their lights or prevented any light from coming out of their rooms as much as possible.
The island was like a dead island that day as people did not go out, did not have fun, did not work and did not turn on lights to observe the holy day for 24 hours.
Foreign as well as domestic tourists who were just on the island that day were also requested to respect the day by limiting their activities around their hotels.
Instead of complaining tourists even enjoyed the event and many of them had even come days before just to be able to enjoy the special day.
The situation was found across the island including in the province`s capital Denpasar which is know for its business.(*)
