Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted Bitung, North Sulawesi, on Wednesday at 9.51 am Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB).

The quake`s epicenter was located qt 0.14 degrees southern latitude and 124.94 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 10 km below sea level, and did not have potential to trigger a subsequent tsunami, according to information from the National Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The temblor was around 180 km southeast of Manado, North Sulawesi, 221 km southeast of Gorontalo, 242 km northwest of Sanana, Maluku; and 2,120 km northeast of Jakarta.
