The last batch of 216 Indonesian citizens arrived back early Thursday after they had been evacuated to Tunisia.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government has repatriated a total of 538 Indonesian citizens from violence-plagued Libya in eight batches since February 28.

The last batch of 216 Indonesian citizens arrived back early Thursday after they had been evacuated to Tunisia, Chief of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Placement and Protection (BNP2TKI) Moh Jumhur Hidayat said on Thursday.

He said the first batch of six people arrived back on February 28 and the second batch of 10 people on March 1. They were mostly employed in Indonesian state construction firm PT Wijaya Karya`s projects in Libya.

The third batch consisting of 191 employees of PT Wijaya Karya, 12 employees of the subsidiaries of state oil and gas firm Pertamina and oil company PT Medco, 22 domestic helpers and 18 students arrived back on March 2, he said.

He said the fourth batch of eight people arrived back on March 5, the fifth batch of 14 people on March 6, and the sixth batch of 13 people on March 7 and the seventh batch of 28 people on March 8.

The eighth batch included 93 students and seven relatives of employees of the Indonesian embassy in Tripoli, he said.

Quoting data from the Foreign Ministry, he said a total of 870 Indonesian citizens lived in Libya and 104 of them were domestic helpers.

He said 538 of the 870 Indonesian citizens had been repatriated until Thursday.(*)
