"The Dompet Dhuafa team, which comprises four persons, with its Indonesia Aid Program has arrived in Yamagata with food, milk, portable generators and fuel for affected residents," Director of the Purwakarta Dompet Duafa Arifin said here on Sunday.
According to him, the team, which has a branch office in Japan, was the first Indonesian humanitarian team to arrive in Japan to help the tsunami disaster management.
The temperature in Tokyo is now around minus three degrees Centigrade, and in Yamagata around nine degrees Centigrade, he said, adding that the team members should also take care of their own health and welfare.
Previously, another team of Dompet Dhuafa, led by Prima Hadi Putra, assisted the evacuation of the people trapped and stuck in a train in Tokyo on Saturday.
The team also went to Sendai, another region which was also hit by the tsunami, to help evacuate and deliver the humanitarian relief aid.
Another team, consisting of four persons, of Dompet Dhuafa branch office in Hong Kong had been sent on Sunday morning to Japan to help the operations of the partner team in Japan, Arifin said.
Meanwhile, the Dompet Dhuafa, Jakarta Office, would conduct a charity event to raise aid and alms for the tsunami victims in Japan, Arifin said.(*)
