Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono arrived back on Sunday from a five-day Australian visit.

The vice president, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Herawati Boediono, and a number of ministers including Education Minister M Nuh and State Administrative Reforms EE Mangindaan, arrived at Soekarno-Hatta airport by Garuda commercial flight at 2 p.m.

While in Australia, Boediono visited Perth, Canberra and Sydney.

In Perth, Boediono received an honorary doctorate from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and met with members of the Indonesian community there.

The vice president graduated from UWA with an economics degree in 1967 as a participant of the Colombo Plan and is one of many thousands of Indonesian scholarship holders who have studied in Australia.

He also visited Carnagies`s Wave Energy Research Facility at Fremantle Port in Perth to get inputs on the possibility of Indonesia using wave energy to generate electricity.

In Canberra, the vice president met with Australia`s Acting Prime Minister Wayne Swan MP, Dean of the Australian National University (ANU) Prof Andrew Mac Inttyre, Australian Trade Minister Craig Emerson and noted Australian economist Prof Ross Garnaut.

In Sydney, Boediono met with Governor of New South Wales Marie Bashier and a number of leaders of Australian companies.(*)
