The director of international affairs at Tanjungpura university, Dr.Farah Diba,M.Si, in a press release here, Tuesday said, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation was signed by Tanjungpura University Rector Prof.Chairil Effendy and the director of Guangxi university`s international exchange division, Wei Jinhai, at the Tanjungpura university Rectorate on Monday, March 21.
According to Dr.Farah Diba, the cooperation was the implementation of an agreement between the "Confucius Institute Headquarters" with the Ministry of National Education.
"There are six universities in Indonesia which were selected to implement the cooperation which aims to establish a Mandarin Language Center in Indonesia," she said.
The signing of the MoU was specially for the establishment of a Mandarin Language Center. Furthermore, it will develop a wider cooperation for all courses that exist at the Tanjungpura and Guangxi universities.
Chairil Effendy stated, Tanjungpura university welcomed the cooperation with Guangxi university for the establishment of a Mandarin Language Center.
Tanjungpura is one of the six universities in Indonesia which was selected by the Ministry of National Education and the Government of China for a Mandarin Language Center establishment.
"Mandarin Language Center will be one of the Tanjungpura university`s centers of excellence because it strongly supports the need of education in West Kalimantan province," he said.
Chairil expected, the inauguration of Mandarin Language Center and its operational can be done within three months after signing the MoU.
He stated, the cooperation can be enhanced, not only in the establishment and management of Mandarin Language Center, but in a broader scope so as to involve the entire course of study at Tanjungpura university.
Among the others, joint research program for lecturers, study visits/internships for faculty (staff exchange) and study visits/ internships for students (exchange students).
Meanwhile, the Director of Guangxi university for international exchange division, Wei Jinhai said, the cooperation would bring progress for the two universities.
"He welcomed the idea of ​​the Tanjungpura university Rector to develop a MOU between the two universities so that not only in the management of Mandarin Language Center," Dr.Farah Diba quoted Wei Jinhai.
Guangxi university has a course in Indonesian and students who are interested enough to study Indonesian in Indonesia, particularly in Tanjungpura university in students exchange program (exchange student) for one to two semesters.
The number of students for Indonesian study programs is increasing so Guangxi university needs lecturer for Indonesian.
Guangxi University for Nationalities was founded in 1952 and located in Nanning City, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous province. Currently, the university is led by the Rector named Prof.He Longqun.
Guangxi University has a campus with a total area of ​​132 hectares, divided into east campus and west campus.
The university has 19 faculties, 58 graduate programs, 2 main course master, 42 sub-areas for master program and 4 professional master program.
