Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - A Nigerian national was found having swallowed 106 capsules weighing 1,540 grams of meth in his stomach to avoid customs at the Jakarta airport.

"He was caught in this condition after landing at Terminal II with the illegal drugs in his stomach," chief of Soekarno-Hatta airport`s customs service, Iyan Rubianto, said here on Friday.

He said the Nigerian arrived aboard Thai Airways TG-433 from Bangkok. He said customs officers were suspicious with his action upon arrival and especially when passing through customs checks.

After the examination he was asked to take laxative to secrete and release the capsules. The drug was found to weigh 1,540 grams worth Rp2.31 billion.

The Nigerian said he came to Indonesia to meet with a woman friend known by her initial as DA (30) living in Bogor, West Java. Officers later found DA at a hotel around the airport.

Ivan said this was the biggest smuggling attempt using this technique. Earlier smugglers were found to swallow less than 100 capsules. (*)
