Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Heru Sriyanto, head of Denpasar Prosecution Office, had escaped from a murder of his former driver who poisoned his water dispenser at his home in Denpasar recently, a police spokesman said here Thursday.

"On Monday (March 29), the driver has been arrested and held by the police of East Denpasar," Senior Commissioner Gde Sugianyar said.

The ex-driver, Wayan (50), was suspected of having poured the battery liquid into a dispenser on Thursday (March 24).

The action was discovered when a servant wanted to break her fast by drinking the water from the dispenser.

"The servant drank the water first, and fortunately she threw out the water when she found that it was something wrong," he said.

Afterwards, the servant told Heru and the East Denpasar police arrested Wayan in Batubulan, Gianyar for investigation purpose.

The police had brought the gallon which contained the poisoned water to be checked in the forensic laboratory and found that the water contained a dangerous liquid mixture.

Heru said he had never had trouble with his driver, but couple of days before trying to poison him, Wayan acted rather strangely.

"I have no problems with him. But beforehand, Wayan lost concentration while driving," Heru said.

Heru said that Wayan did not work as usual for four days. (*)
