Indonesia`s total exports to Japan in March dropped 25 percent in value and 50 percent in volume compared to the previous month, Rusman Heriawan, head of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said here Friday.
"This is based on the monitoring of our goods entries to Japanese seaports. There are 60 seaports there," he said.
In February, Japan was the biggest market for Indonesian products with a total export value at 2.87 billion US dollars, according to Rusman.
Indonesia`s non-oil exports to Japan amounted to 1.66 billion US dollars in February 2011.
However, he was optimistic that the the export decline to Japan would not affect Indonesia`s total exports overseas.
"The total exports overseas have indicated an increase in March," he said.
Indonesia`s total exports in February 2011 were recorded at 14.4 billion US dollars, a drop by 1.4 percent from the previous month, but a hike by 28.9 percent from the same period in 2010.
