Bogor (ANTARA News) - The Joint Border Committee(JBC) Meeting at the Bogor Presidential Palace to discuss the border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia has not resulted in any agreement, Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa said,

"No agreement on solving the dispute has been reached because it is considered a complex matter and it can not be accomplished in one meeting," Marty said.

As the ASEAN chairman for 2011, Indonesia had facilitated the meeting, Marty said, adding that the diplomatic process has been going and the recent option is to solve the matter peacefully, without violence.

"The Bogor meeting on Thursday and Friday which was followed by an unofficial meeting on the next day between Indonesia, Cambodian Foreign Affairs Minister Hor Namhong and Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya, as a part of diplomatic resolving option effort," Marty said.

On the Indonesian observer at the disputed area, Marty said that the meeting is preparing for the matter`s Term of Reference (TOR) which hopefully be done soon.

"There has yet a decision on the observer, but not to forget that these observers are only instrument not the main goal," Marty said.

The main purpose Is to ensure the situation in the border area continuously peaceful and safe, with or without observer.

With Indonesian concern as the ASEAN chair in 2011 on the crisis, the situation between Thailand and Cambodia is improving simultaneously which made the meeting is possible, Marty said.

"Indonesian engagement in this matter is proper and in the appropriate form, not an intervention and unaware, therefore despite the bilateral meeting, Indonesia is ready to facilitate any inquiries," Marty said.

Border dispute crisis between Thailand and Cambodia is increasing after Cambodia submitted the Preah Vihear temple as an international heritage in 2008.

In 1962, the International court has stated the temple is in Cambodia area, but the entrance is located in Thailand.

The dispute that involved military force has decreasing in the recent years along with the holding of this meeting to solve the crisis.

"Since last February, the border area has been stable. We need to maintain this stability," Marty said.

Indonesia as the 2011 ASEAN Chair is the facilitator of Thailand-Cambodia bilateral meetings on their border dispute. (*)
