Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono opened the National and Regional Tripartite Cooperation Agency consultation meeting at the State Palace here on Wednesday.

"I find this tripartite meeting important because a lot of problems can be solved through the Tripartite Cooperation Agency (LKS Tripartite)," President Yudhoyono said in his opening address.

The head of state then called on related ministers and governors to actively cooperate and coordinate in making the Tripartite Cooperation Agency to function effectively.

President Yudhoyono said the LKS Tripartite should be supported so that it could optimally implement its role in providing the government with inputs for the solution of labor problems.

The LKS Tripartite, according to the president, is an important element to achieve the twin goals of the business world namely the improvement of labor welfare and business development.

According to the president, the contribution from the government, business world, and the working group has successfully reduced the impact of 2008 global crisis.

He added that the cooperation has been able to reduce lay-offs in Indonesia.

Preventing lay-offs is one of seven steps to overcome the impact of global financial crisis.
