Sidoarjo, East Java (ANTARA News) - Security is being tightened in Juanda International Airport`s terminal in Surabaya, East Java following last Friday`s suicide bombing in Cirebon, West Java.

Juanda airport task force commander Captain Muhamat Suaidi said here on Monday that the focus of security at Juanda airport`s terminal was to prevent a similar terror bomb at the airport.

"For now we focus on security in the airport`s terminal while conducting routine patrol outside the terminal of Juanda airport," Suaidi said.

He said security was tightened by having all passengers and their luggage go under X-ray test.

"While security outside the terminal is maintained by using metal detector and sniffer dogs," he said, adding that Juanda airport has 565 security officials to ensure security and safety for all airline passengers following the bombing in Cirebon.

On Friday, April 15, 2011, a suspected suicide bomb attack at a mosque in the compound of the Cirebon police office in West Java killed a man and wounded at least 20 others.

The blast occurred at around 12 noon when people were about to perform Friday prayers.

Police said the suspected suicide bomber was believed to carry the bomb in his shirt because when the explosion occurred the position of the perpetrator was at Cirebon police office compound where the mosque is located.
