Rachmat was selected to receive the award due to his important role in encouraging the productivity movement in the Asia-Pacific.
Rachmat was the first Indonesian citizen who received the APO Regional Award 2011 category which is given every five years to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the productivity movement in the Asia Pacific region.
According to APO records, Rachmat was one of pioneers who popularized green industry among industry players as the main entrance ticket to get into the global market.
According to Rachmat the award will spur more people to continue to encourage Indonesia to improve its productivity.
There were four other figures who got awards from the APO, namely Dr Tyzz-Jiun Duh (PRC), Tsunaeki Tanaguchi (Japan), Dr. Dong-Kyu Choi (South Korea) and Fidel Ramos (former president of the Philippines) who were also considered to have contributed to and taken the initiative in improving productivity in the Asia-Pacific region.(*)
