"All the suspects are being questioned to find out about their specific role in the bombing plan."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Special anti-terror police personnel are still questioning 19 book-bomb terrorist suspects arrested last Thursday (April 21), National Police`s spokesman Boy Rafli Amar said here on Friday.
He said the 19 suspects were detained in five different places in Aceh province, Bogor (West Java), Kramat Jati (Jakarta), Rawamangun (Jakarta), Pondok Kopi (Jakarta), Bekasi (West Java) and Tangerang (Banten).
"All the suspects are being questioned to find out about their specific role in the bombing plan," Boy said.
Last March 15, unidentified people sent book bomb parcels to three different places in Jakarta.
The bomb parcels were addressed to Chief of Utan Kayu Community Ulil Abshar Abdalla, Head of National Narcotics Agency Gories Mere, and figure of Pancasila Youth Organization Yapto S. Soeryosumarno.
A similar packet was addressed to musician Ahmad Dhani a day after.
The bomb packet for Ulil exploded when Commissioner Dody Rahmawan and several other officers tried to defuse it.
The explosion injured two officers, Inspector II Bara Libra Sagita and Mulyana and cut Police Commissioner Dody`s palm.
On April 21, police arrested a villager of Margahayu, Bekasi, West Java, who was alleged to be the maker of a book bomb that exploded at KBR 68H building in East Jakarta.
According to local villagers, Toge alias Alwih (30) was arrested by police anti-terror unit Densus 88 at around Margahayu market at around 6 am on Thursday where he worked as a motorbike taxi driver.
Alwih, an ethnic Chinese, lives with his wife and two children in Kampung Rawa Semut.
"I saw Alwih being intercepted by police in plainclothes while he was riding a motorcycle. A police car pushed him aside and made him fall from the motorcycle and immediately taken away in the car," Acil (21), one of Alwih`s friends said.
A villager who works as a securityman at Mitra Jaya neighbourhood in Kampung Rawa Semut, Rusli Alamsyah (47), said that the police had actually targeted Alwih since Wednesday (April 20).
"He was believed to be the maker of book bombs that were sent to KBR68H, singer Ahmad Dani, youth organization leader Yapto and others last March. Right now Alwih has been taken to the police headquarters in Jakarta," he said.
According to local villagers, Alwih is a very silent man. He has been working as a motorbike taxi driver in the past three years while his wife, Ani, sells cellphone cards.
