Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Salam Mosque Foundation of the Bandung-based Institute of Technology (ITB) is not a base for cadre recruitment of the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) and other misleading movements, the foundation said in a statement here on Wednesday.

In its statement, the ITB`s Salam Mosque Foundation said it had conducted an observation on the presence of sporadic individual activities using the ITB`s Salman Mosque which were believed to be NII cadre recruitment activities.

The activities have been observed since the 2000s.

In that connection, the foundation in its written statement signed by its general chairman H Syarif Hidayat and patron KH Miftah Faridi, said that its side always kept guard, popularized and disseminated information on the danger of NII KW IX to various media organizations and propagation media.

It said that the foundation always cooperated with the relevant sides like ITB, Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) and police to prevent, deter and handle criminal actions with regard to the NII actions.

For this, the Salam Mosque Foundation urged the government to dissolve NII and declare it as illegal organization in Indonesia.

It also called on the government to take legal actions against any side who were involved in the NII activities, particularly the NII KW IX.(*)
