A Jordanian source told the state news agency Petra Amman now looked towards "a period where terrorism that had distorted the fairness of the Palestinian cause would end". The official source said it was now crucial to end the decades-old conflict that had been used by al Qaeda to justify its "terror".
Jordan, which is a key U.S. ally in the Middle East and Israel`s peace partner, has been pursuing al Qaeda aggressively for years. It cooperates closely with U.S. and other intelligence agencies.
The source said bin Laden`s death could help ease anti-Islam phobia in the West and promote Muslim-Christian reconciliation.
The Arab moderate kingdom has often been targeted by al Qaeda and other Islamic militants.It regularly arrests radical Islamic suspects and puts them on trial. (*)
