"No car-free day on May 7-8," Deputy Traffic Director of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Adj Snr Comr Tomex Korniawan said here on Tuesday.
The police apply car-free day to the road linking Blok M in South Jakarta to Harmoni in Central Jakarta in the second and fourth weeks of every month.
Tomex said the road was among those the participants of the 18th ASEAN Summit would pass through.
Instead, the car-free day in the second week of May would be put back to the third week, he said.
Asked about escort for participants of the summit, Tomex said the police had prepared personnel to escort ASEAN Summit delegations from their hotels to the summit venue using motorcycles and cars.
He said the police would likely reroute traffic on the roads where the delegations would pass through.
Traffic police would give priority to cars carrying the delegations over other vehicles, he said.
The police will deploy a total of 4,385 personnel to secure the summit which will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center on May 4-8.(*)
