The President`s visit came a day ahead of the two-day summit which will open on Saturday.
Security at the media center located outside the summit venue was tightened a moment before the president`s arrival.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Vice President Boediono also inspected the summit venue.
ASEAN leaders began to arrive in Jakarta via the Soekarno-Hatta and Halim Perdanakusuma Airports on Friday. The government has designated the two airports as points of arrival for participants of the summit.
ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) groups Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. (*)
