The president said in a statement at the end of the 18th ASEAN Summit here on Sunday evening that the networks would function as a medium to produce common plans, exchange experience and to manage ASEAN which gave priorities to peace and stability.
"We agree that this effort would strengthen the roles of ASEAN members in supporting the UN`s effective peacekeeping process," he said.
For that purposes, the ASEAN leaders agree to assign their related ministers to take concrete steps to achieve the goals.
President Yudhoyono closed the 18th ASEAN Summit on Sunday evening.
It was reported earlier that the ASEAN leaders agreed to issue three joint statements namely Joint Statement on ASEAN community in a Global Community of Nations, Joint Statement on Establishment of an ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation and Joint Statement on Enhancing Cooperation Against Trafficking in Persons in South East Asia.(*)
