Pamekasan, East Java (ANTARA News) - A six year old boy from Pamekasan on the island of Madura, East Java, plans to conquer ten mountain peaks in Indonesia.

"This is the next step taken after last year he successfully conquered Mahameru peak, which is the highest mountain peak in East Java," his father said here on Thursday.

Arya Cahya Mulyana Sugianto, a prep school student and the son of Agus Sugianto (41) and Tri Yuli Mulyanti (40) indeed likes mount climbing.

On August 17, 2010, Arya successfully conquered Mahameru, the peak of Mount Semeru (3,676 meter), to celebrate the August 17 National Independence Day along with other climbers.

Arya set off from the Pemakasan District Office, seen off by district head Kholilurrahman.

Sugianto said his son had conducted mount climing for four times sinc 2007 with the first on Welirang and the second Arjuna. In 2009 he again climbed the Welirang.

"He has climbed Welirang twice and the last mountain peak he climbed was Mahameru," he said.

Arya would finish climbing the ten mountains in four months from May 12 to Augus 21, 2011.

He would first climb Ceremai in Cirebon, West Java, which is 2,900 meter high above sea level. After that he would climb Slamet mountain (3,432) in Purbalingga, Central Java, Sindoro (3,155 meter) in Temanggung, Central Java, and Wonotirto (2,000).

"From there he would then climb Lawu (3,265)," Akhmad Kusnindar, the spokesman of the mount climbing team that would accompany Arya said.

After that he would scale Rinjani (3,726) in Lombok island, West Nusa Tenggara and then Agung (3,124) in Bali and back to climb Welirang in East Java and Arjuno (3,330) in Malang, East Java.

"Mahameru would be the final peak he would climb and again he plans to plant a pole flying a national red and white flag on August 17 there like last year," Akhmad said.

Soe Hok Gie, a noted student activist of state University of Indonesia died on December 18, 1969 at the age of 27 while climbing the Semeru.

Five people would accompany Arya during the climbing to be done under the theme of "Expedition of Independence Light 2011."(*)
