Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) are still investigating the hacking of their website www.polri.go.id, a spokesman said.

Senior Commissioner Boy Rafly Amar, head of the National Police Headquarters Public Information service, said here on Wednesday, that investigators were making an analysis of the cyber crime on the basis of testimonies by witnesses in Polri`s technology division who had reported the case.

He said the police would show the evidence on its electronic aspect. Damage to it was analyzed and data uploaded into the site by an irresponsible party were taken as legal evidence.

"At present, we are still gathering facts, and so far we have not yet found any suspects. Legal facts must be collected first before taking legal action," Rafly said.

He said that anybody could hack a website as far as he or she had the needed technological capability.

The hacking incident of the Police website was known on Monday, April 16, 2011. At present, damage to the site was being repaired.

He said that in the site there were text messages with religious nuance and a picture and video linked to YouTube with similar text messages.

"It is not immediately clear what the motive of the hackers was to do this but we are sure that we will find the hackers, yet I cannot tell you more about it now," he said.(*)
