The Banten chapter made the pledge at a meeting with Muqowam in Baten at the weekend, the Information Center for Akhmad Muqowam For General Chairman (AMQ Forum) said in a statement on Sunday.
The Banten chapter, along with all district branches had agreed to support Muqowam`s nomination for the party chief, it said.
Chief of the Banten chapter Mardiono expressed hope Muqowam would make a change in the party executive board if he was elected party chief at the Bandung congress scheduled for early in July.
Incumbent party chief Suryadharma Ali and former deputy chief of the state intelligence board Muchdi Purwoprandjono have been widely tipped as strong contenders to Muqowam in the election of party chief.(*)
