"Indonesia which used to be known as a friendly nation has changed into a bad-tempered nation, anarchis and separatism which are against the Pancasila values are rampant," the House Speaker said at the Parliament Building here Wednesday.
Pancasila is the philosophy of Indonesia, the national ideology and the source of all laws as stated in the preamble to the Constitution of 1945, according to Marzuki.
Since the advent of the reform movement in 1998, however, Pancasila had been ignored, he said.
The People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR) had four times made amendments to the Constitution of 1945, he said.
"After the amendments, Pancasila was no longer reflected and implemented in our Constitution, moreover in laws as implementation of the Constitution," he said.
The element of justice has been missing in the discussion of laws as Pancasila has faded away, Marzuki stated.
"We hope national life in the future will be truly based on the noble values of Pancasila," he added.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono delivered a speech to commemorate the birth of the Pancasila state ideology at the parliament building here Wednesday.
First president Soekarno had delivered a speech on June 1, 1945 introducing the idea of Pancasila as Indonesia`s state ideology.
Pancasila comprises the five principles of the Republic of Indonesia`s state ideology, namely belief in God Almighty, humanity that is just and civilized, the unity of Indonesia, democracy guided by the wisdom of representative deliberation, and social justice for all Indonesians.
Vice President Boediono, several ministers and former presidents were present in the event which started at 10 am local time. (*)
