Ambon, Maluku (ANTARA News) - Maluku province earned US$24.4 million from exporting various commodities in the first four months of 2011, with fish and frozen shrimp as key foreign exchange earners, a spokesman said.

The fish and frozen shrimp exports which reached 42.68 tons went to nine countries, Head of the Maluku Provincial Statistics Office Edison Ritonga said here on Sunday.

In April 2011 alone, exports totaled US$3.32 million, down 53.75 percent from March, in which Thailand remained on top as the biggest market for the province`s commodities, he said.

"Fish and frozen shrimp exports to Thailand last month were valued at US$2.4 million, followed by China with US$0.91 million and Hong Kong with US$13 thousand," he said.(*)
