The awards, presented on the occasion of World Environment Day 2011 at the State Palace here on Tuesday, were given in four categories, namely Kalpataru for individuals and groups, and Adipura for metropolitan cities, big cities, medium cities, and small cities.
The awards were also given to the head of the provincial-level regions and districts/municipalities for the best composers of Regional Environmental Status 2012 (LHSD 2012).
The Kalpataru awards for the environmental pioneer category were given to Sugiarto of Cowek village in the East Java district of Pasuruan, Maramis Asid of Nagari Sinurui in the West Sumatra district of Pasaman Barat, and Lulut Sri Yuliani of Rungkut sub-district in Surabaya, East Java.
For environmental devotee category, the Kalpataru awards were given to Soleman Nugroho of Desa Tematana village in Sumba Barat Daya district, East Nusa Tenggara; Surjadi SP of Bebalang village in Bangli district, Bali; and Sudarli ofi Desa Purwodadi village in Gunung Kidul district, Yogyakarta.
The Kalpataru awards for environmen rescuer category were presented to a group of fishermen at Serangan village in Denpasar Selatan sub-district, Bali; Nurul Hakim Islamic Boarding School at Kediri village in Lombok Barat district, West Nusa Tenggara; and Pelopor Sehati Foundation in Padang Mutung village, Kampar district in Riau province.
And for environment builder category the awards were presented to Aang Hamidi Suganda of Kuningan district in West Java, and Krido Suprayitno of Sleman district in Yogyakarta province.
While Adipura awards for metropolitan cities category were given to the cities of Surabaya and Palembang.
For big cities category, the Adipura awards went to Yogyakarta city and Riau provincial city of Pekanbaru.
Adipura awards for medium cities category were given to 32 cities among others the cities of Jepara in Central Java, Parepare in South Sulawesi, Kendari in Southeast Sulawesi, Gresik in East Java, and Probolinggo in East Java.
Adipura for small cities category went to 42 cities, among others Pangkajene in South Sulawesi, Pangkalan Bun in Central Kalimantan, Pati in Central Java, Mojosari in East Java, and Kolaka in Southeast Sulawesi. ***4***
