Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Some 620 policy makers representing government, industry, academia and companies will participate in the World Economic Forum on East Asia here on June 12-13, 2011.

"The meeting will give Indonesia very positive exposure," senior Communication and Informatics Ministry`s official Freddy Tulung said here Tuesday.

Hosting the WEF will further srengthen the world`s positive perception of Indonesia, according to Freddy.

"The presence of global and Asia-Pacific decision makers will create opportunities for trade and investment as well as tourism activities," he said.

The WEF on East Asia 2011`s theme is "Responding to the New Globalism" . Representatives of non-profit organizations will also take part in the WEF.

Indonesia`s delegation will consist of officials from the coordinating ministry for economic affairs, the foreign affairs ministry, the finance ministry and the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

The country`s delegates will also include representatives of Pertamina, Bank Mandiri, BNI 46, Group Lippo, Group Sintesa, Bumi Resources, Indika Energy, PT EMTEK, PT Smart, PT. Indorama, Quvat, PT Astra International Tbk, Agung Podomoro Group, and PT Gajah Tunggal.

The Forum will discuss global issues such as commodity prices, energy and food resilience, the role of businesses in supporting the national economy, and agriculture sector development.

"These are relevant topics for the national development program in Indonesia," Freddy said.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to officially open the WEF on East Asia 2011 on June 12.

The World Economic Forum on East Asia will coincide with the WEF`s 20th anniversary .

Developing Asian economies are forecast to grow 8.4% in 2011 - 6.1% in Indonesia`s case - and will continue to make headlines as engines of the world`s economic recovery.
