"There will be a session for the subject matter of foods and energy, so that the Agriculture Minister and the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister (ESDM) will speak in the forum," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Radjasa said here on Wednesday.
The food security and the energy matters is a big challenge the countries in the world should face, including in East Asia with their rapid growth, Radjasa said.
"We will make use of this meeting to seek solution against this matter," minister Radjasa said.
Indonesia as the ASEAN chair, according to Radjasa, has raised this matter, so that the countries in this region need to provide a plan, roadmap and action plan in the food security and energy.
The WEF-EA which will hold its 20th meeting in Jakarta on June 12-13 or the first of its kind to be held by Indonesia, will be attended by 600 participants from 40 countries.
As many as 16 Indonesian high ranking government officials in addition to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Vice President Boediono, Minister Hatta Radjasa, Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo, Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu and chief of the National Investment Coordinating Board Gita Wirjawan
will attend the WEF-EA meeting.
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien-Loong, Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, Mongolia prime Minister Batbold Sukhbaatar, Singapore Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng-Kiang, Malaysian Deputy Minster for Industry and International Trade Mukhriz Mahathir, Vietnamese Minister for Agriculture and Regional Development Cao Duc will also attend the forum meeting.
Apart from that, the World Trade Organization Director General Pascal Lamy, ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan, the Asian Development Bank Managing Director Rajat M. Nag, Deputy Managing Director International Monetary Fund (IMF), Naoyuki Shinohara, Secretary General of World Tourism (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai, and Secretary General of UNCTAD Supachai Panitchpakdi are also expected to attend the meeting. ***5***
