Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - The death toll in Monday`s motor vessel mishap in Tanjung Dewa waters, South Kalimantan, has risen to 29 following the recovery of two more bodies on Wednesday.

"The two bodies are being taken to Panjang port in Kotabaru," Chief of the Kotabaru Police Resort Adj. Snr Comr Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan said.

He said rescue workers were continuing their search for other victims of KM Martasiah that capsized in the waters at around 12.00 local time on Monday.

According to a report, four people had come to the police resort to report that their relatives were still missing.

Meanwhile, the skipper and crew member of KM Martasiah B II said the vessel carried 105 passengers when it met the accident. However, only 22 passengers were recorded in the manifest.

"If the information is true, there must be three passengers who are still missing," he said.

A total of 73 people escaped the mishap.

The KM Martasiah left Panjang port in Kotabaru on Monday at around 10 am local time and capsized at around 12.00 hours or around 1.5 to 2 hours after sailing. The vessel which also carried goods including motorcycles, basic necessaries and household stuff for sales in Geronggang market capsized after being hit by strong winds and high waves.
