"More and more foreigners are going to work in the country and therefore, we must be able to increase Indonesian workers` capability and productivity," KEN chairman Chairul Tanjung said on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on East Asia (WEFEA) here Monday.
Chairul made the statement when commenting on the fact that an increasing number of foreigners were entering Indonesia to work.
He said the WEF must be a momentum for all elements of the nation to increases their proficiency in every field so that Indonesia would have more competent and capable human resources.
"Many foreign workers are employed here in high management jobs such as CEOs but there is a tendency expatriates are also increasingly taking up lower level managerial positions," he said.
Chairul also said it was time to invest in education and trainings in an effort to increase the competitiveness of Indonesia`s human resources.
The grand theme of the WEFEA 2011 held here in Indonesia was "Responding to The New Globalism" in responding to the tensions between the old and new worlds in the globalization era.
The Indonesian government was also expected to be different from the 20th century internationalism, where Asia was envisioned to be in the center of globalization with its rich natural resources, opportunities and trust to form an international system.
