"Forty of 136 houses had been badly damaged," head of the Lebak disaster mitigation agency Muklis said Tuesday.
He said his side was still unearthing the houses buried under the quake`s ruins.
The quake had also affected a number of villages in Cibeber sub-district.
He said 136 houses in five villages, namely Cikatomas, Cijengkol, Cikamunding, Pasir Bungur and Giri Mukti, had been very badly damaged by the quake.
He said the 4.9-magnitude quake had its epicenter 69 kilometers southeast of Sukabumi, West Java.
The quake struck twice at 3.24 am and 9.24 am. But there had been no reports of casualties. (*)
