At least 34 documentary film title from 8 provinces have been received by the organizing committee and selected by a team of local, national, and international film experts.
Denpasar (ANTARA News) - Eight Indonesian provinces will be represented in a documentary film fest to be held as part of the month-long Bali Arts Festival in Bali from June 10 - July 9, 2011.

"At least 34 documentary film title from 8 provinces have been received by the organizing committee and selected by a team of local, national, and international film experts," said film festival organizer Maria Ekaristi here on Saturday.

She said the eight provinces participating in the film festival were Aceh, North Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, and Bali the host province.

According to Maria, the jury in the film festival were Dr Lawrence Blair, a documentary film expert from Britain, Hadi Hartono, Prof Wayan Dibia, and Rio Helmi.

She said 10 titles of the best films which have been selected by the jury would be screened at the Natya Mandala building of the Indonesian Arts Institute in Denpasar, located next to the Denpasar Cultural Park where the Bali Arts Festival is being held.

Maria explained that the best films would be shown starting on Saturday night (June 18) and will be open to the public.

She said Bali was hosting the documentary film festival with a hope that the younger generation in the island will develop an interest in the creative film industry.
