Head of National Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI) Jumhur Hidayat said that Ruyati confessed in court that she had committed the murder.
"In court, Ruyati confessed she killed her employer`s wife after a quarrel because her demand for going home was not complied," Jumhur said here on Sunday.
Ruyati, a domestic helper from Ceger village, Sukatani sub-district, Bakasi, West Java, was executed by beheading on Saturday (June 18, 2011).
Jumhur was informed that Ruyati who was sent to Saudi Arabia by manpower supplier firm PT Dasa Graha Utama had killed Khoiriyah on January 12, 2010 by stabbing the victim in the head and neck several times with a machete and kitchen knife.
He said that the Indonesian consulate general in Jidda has asked for wide access to Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry and legal counseling for Ruyati through two diplomatic notes.
The consul general had accompanied Ruyati in two court sessions on May 3 and 10, 2010.
The court on July 14, 2010 reinforced a lower court`s death penalty (beheading) and was later confirmed by the Saudi Supreme Court.
Jumhur said that the consulate general had also attempted to ask for pardon from the victim`s family in the hope that Ruyati would not be executed, but was rejected.
Finally, the Saudi Kingdom ordered the execution based on the victim`s family request.
For the execution of the death penalty, BNP2TKI expressed deep condolences. "We expressed our condolences to the family of Ruyati over the execution," Jumhur said.(*)
