Cairo (ANTARA News) - Thirty construction businessmen from Sudan are currently in Jakarta to explore cooperation prospects with their Indonesian counterparts.

Their visit to Indonesia has also been related to Indobuildtech in Jakarta from June 22 to 26, 2011, the Indonesian embassy in Khartoum said Wednesday.

Some of them were businessmen grouped in a business delegation in a meeting with the Indonesian chamber of commerce and industry (Kadin) and several major business entrepreneurs in Indonesia in Jakarta in last April.

In post-referendum, Sudan, the largest country in Africa, became two countries, prompted the country to focus more on infrastructure development, especially roads, bridges, airports and new cities.

"It was those things which encouraged Sudan`s businesspeople to seek business opportunities in the construction sector and potential partners in Indonesia," Indonesian ambassador to Sudan and Eritrea Dr. Sujatmiko said adding that Indobuildtech exhibition is providing a good opportunity for the businessmen.

With regard to the expo, the Indonesian embassy teamed up with the Sudan Construction Association (SCA) to encourage Sudan`s contractors to come to Indonesia.

Besides visiting Indobuildtech, the businessmen also visited a ceramic plant, several major shipping centers and housing projects in Jakarta in the hope for wider ideas for cooperation with Indonesian businessmen.

The delegation will also meet Indonesian construction bussinessmen including the Indonesian workers placement and protection agency (BNP2TKI), he said.

Ambassador Sujatmiko on Saturday (June 18) entertained the Sudan businessmen at Wisma Duta to explain them the business opportunities in Indonesia.

"The visit of the Sudan businessmen is expected to have a positive effect on increasing trade value, opportunities of Indonesian workers, and the promotion of tourism and art/culture of the two countries," Sujatmiko said.

On many occasions Dr. Sujatmiko repeatedly said that the construction sector in Sudan has a strategic significance for Indonesia.
