Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Friday ordered the police to coordinate with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to arrest Nazaruddin, former treasurer of the Democrat Party, who has been named a suspect in a corruption case.

"The president`s order to the police chief was to immediately coordinate with the KPK chief to take further actions to locate and arrest (Nazaruddin)," presidential spokesman Julian A Pasha said at the presidential palace compound here on Friday.

President Yudhoyono had asked the police to coordinate with the KPK so that Nazaruddin`s case could be immediately processed after the relevant administrative requirements were fulfilled.

National Police chief General Timur Pradopo meanwhile said the police were ready to cooperate with KPK to take home the suspect in the bribery case in the Athlete Village project for the 26th Southeast Asian Games in Palembang.

The cooperation to take Nazaruddin back to Indonesia certainly must be done through the Interpol. "We will take him to Indonesia to be held responsible for his action judicially," he said.

KPK has formally named Nazaruddin suspect in the alleged bribery case in the Athlete Village project.

"After studying the evidence thoroughly we immediately raised Nazaruddin`s status to suspect. As of Thursday (June 30) he is a suspect," KPK chief Busyro Muqoddas said.

He said KPK right now was still making efforts to take Nazaruddin to the country after he was reported to have gone to Singapore in connection with his alleged involvement in the bribery case of Wafid Muharam, the secretary of the sports minister. ***3***
