East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono visited the traditional Aikmel market here on Tuesday, and had a dialog with local traders.

The vice president was tightly guarded by security officers when arriving in the market, as a big crowd tried to approach and see the vice president at the market.

Boediono stayed in the market for ten minutes and waved his hands to the crowd when leaving the market.

"There is hardly any visit by officials here, especially the vice president. We are very happy," a local trader said.

Boediono later inspected the site of a migrant workers training center under construction in East Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara Province.

"I strongly support the construction of this workers training center," Boediono said, adding he appreciated the local administration for working hard to complete the project.

The project worth billions of rupiah is expected to be completed in 2014.

In the meantime, Lombok Timur district head Sukiman Azmy said the province felt a dire need to build a labor training center because great numbers of the local workforce were always seeking work abroad.

"We need the central government`s support to complete this overseas workers training center," Azmy said.

On Monday (July 11), Vice President Boediono opened the 6th International Festival of Youth and Nautical Sports 2011 (FIPOB 2011) at Mandalika beach in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

The vice president took about 90 minutes from his hotel at Senggigi beach to reach Mandalika beach where the international festival of youth and nautical sports was taking place.

"The 6th FIPOB is a multi activity to foster members of the younger generation to promote their love of the sea, motivate their creativity and achievement, and to strengthen their partnership access to the younger people of other countries," the vice president said in his opening remark.
