Washington (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Wednesday that she will stick to her scheduled visit to India next week despite the deadly Mumbai bombings that killed 21 and injured 113.

Speaking at a press conference in the State Department, Clinton first condemned the "despicable acts of violence," and said the perpetrators "cannot succeed."

She said that in the past, India had responded to acts of terrorism with "courage and resilience," adding that the U.S. has expressed condolence and offered support to the Indian government.

"I will be traveling to India next week as planned," said Clinton, adding that it is more important than ever that "we stand with India."

Earlier the day, U.S. President Barack Obama had condemned the attacks as "outrageous."

Downtown Mumbai came under triple attacks Wednesday evening, which took place within minutes of each other. India`s Home Ministry confirmed them as terrorist attacks.

It was the first major terror attack in the city after the 2008 siege that left 160 people dead. (*)
