Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Panji Gumilang, the head of the Al Zaytun Islamic boarding school, again failed to meet a police summons for questioning here on Thursday allegedly due to illness.

"The doctor did not allow him (to go) because he had complained of chest pains that were feared to be signs of a stroke," Panji`s lawyer, Ali Tanjung, said at the National Police Headquarters.

Pandji was summoned in connection with a report from "former minister for boosting production of the Indonesia Islamic State (NII)" Imam Supriyanto on May 25, 2011 that he had allegedly faked a document and information about NII activity at his Al Zaytun Islamic boarding school.

Panji`s team of lawyers had asked the police to postpone his questioning "until when I do not know," Ali said.

Ali had asked the police to conduct a check themselves to ascertain Panji Gumilang`s state of health.

The head of the National Police`s public relations division, Inspector General Anton Bachrul Alam, had earlier said the police would send a team to check Panji`s conditions.

Panji also failed to meet police summonses on July 4 and 11, 2011 also because of his health conditions.

The police have named him a suspect in connection with the alleged document forgery as of July 2011. The police meanwhile had detained a member of his staff, Abdul Halim.

Thousands of Panji`s supporters meanwhile demonstrated at the Nationl Police Headquarters on Thursday to demand the police to stop Panji`s legal processing and the release of Abdul Halim.
