FJJ will be staged along Jaksa and Wahid Hasyim streetsJakarta (ANTARA News) - A Jalan Jaksa (Jaksa Street) Festival (FJJ) will be held at Kebonsirih, Menteng, Central Jakarta, from July 23 to 24, 2011.
The festival is to be organized to commemorate Jakarta's 484th anniversary and Indonesia's 66th Independence Day, Triyugo Prasetyo, the head of the Central Jakarta tourism office, said here on Thusday.
"The FJJ will be staged along Jaksa and Wahid Hasyim streets," he said.
Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo will officially kick-off the festival.
Visitors to the festival will be offered various kinds of traditional Betawi (indigenous Jakarta) foods, including dishes that have become almost extinct.
"There will be a lot of bazaar stands offering various kinds of food from eight sub districts in Central Jakarta," he said.
The event will also feature an Abang-None finalist 2011 stand, None cafe, painter community stand and tourism stand. None is an other name for Miss.
Traditional Batawi arts such as palang pintu, pencak silat (martial arts), gambang kromong music, tanjidor music, marawis, ondel-ondel, will also highlight the FJJ.
The festival will also offer a batik workshop and a collaboration dance of artists from East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan and Bengkulu.
"The entertainment stage will feature Jakarta artists such as Steven Jam, Moonkey Boots, Sabeni and Diary Milk," he said.
The FJJ is aimed at attracting domestic and foreign tourists to visit Jaksa street which is known for affordable accommodation for foreign backpackers, Triyugo explained. (ANT)
